Class Teacher – Miss Jago

Hello, I am Miss Jago. I love teaching all age groups and enjoy watching all of the children grow up and learn many new things as they move up through the school.

I enjoy the outdoors and I have a horse called Indie and two dogs called Spruce and Willow. When I am not competing with Indie or walking the dogs I love to cook.

To contact Miss Jago please email: rjago.teacher@thornhill.durham.sch.uk

Teaching Assistant – Miss Walsh

Hello, my name is Miss Walsh. I have a dog called Raffa and a cat called Mica. At the weekend I like to spend time with my family. I’m also an avid football fan and have a season ticket for Newcastle United and I enjoy going to matches with my niece and nephew.

Welcome to our Year 2 webpage
We hope that you find the information here useful! If you require any more information, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

The following notes outline some important routines that should help us all to have an organised year.

• Reading: Please listen to your child read for 15 minutes every night. Reading is a skill that needs to be developed with regular practise, little and often, so your continued support with this is invaluable. Also please ensure that planners come to school everyday.

Homework
This year the children will receive homework every week. Please feel free to help your child with their tasks – discussing homework with them is a great way to further their understanding and consolidate their learning. Children will be given their homework book on Thursday, which should be returned to school the following Wednesday.

Spellings / Maths Facts
In Year 2 the children will continue to have a weekly spelling test and maths facts test on a Monday. They will be given a new set of spellings and maths facts every Tuesday written in their planners.

PE
Children will need an indoor PE kit (red shorts, white t-shirt and plimsolls) and an outdoor kit (tracksuit bottoms and top and outdoor trainers) labelled with their name. Kits can be left at school over the half term.
